After Seven Years BYU Men’s Soccer make it to PDL playoffs

Provo, UT- The Brigham Young University Men’s Soccer Team will face Ventura County Fusion in the first round of the Premier Development League playoff games.

“We have worked really hard for this game,” said head coach Christopher Watkins. “The last time we made the playoffs was in 2007 and some of our players have been waiting a long time for this game. We are coming to the game 100 percent prepared.”

The Cougars hold a final season record of 7-4-3 with 24 overall points. Ventura County Fusion finished 8-3-3 with 27 points. The playoff match is scheduled at the University of Las Vegas’ Campus at the Peter Johann Soccer Field on Saturday July 19th at 9:00 p.m.

Preceding the Cougar’s game FC Tucson will face the LA Misioneros FC at 6:30 p.m. The two winners will be invited into the next round of the playoffs against the Northwest Division in the Conference Championship the following week at a site not yet decided.

Ticket prices for the first round of playoff games are $12.00 for adults, $10.00 for students and military and $9.00 for youth (Under 12).

The Cougars hold a 5-0 preseason record. BYU competes in the USL Premier Development League (PDL), the fourth tier of the American Soccer Pyramid. The Brigham Young University Cougars have competed in the league since May 2003. BYU’s team is the first University sponsored soccer program to purchase a franchise and compete at a higher level.
