All four of them have always wanted to go to BYU, so being recruited for the BYU men’s soccer team is nothing short of a dream come true for these four high school seniors.

“When I found out coach Watkins wanted to recruit me for the team, I was so excited,” said Will Burton, a defender from Woods Cross High in Bountiful. “I've always wanted to go to BYU, because I know they have a great program. I’m honored because I know coach Watkins sees a lot of good players. Playing on the team is going to be a great opportunity for me.” coach Watkins and assistant coach Chad Sackett saw Will play in tournaments, regionals, and the Real Salt Lake Junior Team. Even though he was recruited by other Division I teams, BYU was Will’s first pick.

Jordan Huber, a defender from Centennial High in Boise, Idaho, said he always wanted to play on the BYU men’s soccer team. “Whether I made the team or not, I wanted to go to BYU,” said Jordan. “It’s a bonus to get to play there too.”

Colby Bauer, a defender from Red Mountain High in Mesa, Arizona, has been playing soccer for fourteen years. “When I found out I was being recruited, it was a stress reliever. It was my main goal, so I’m really excited about it.”

Jace Green, the fourth recruit, is a midfielder/forward from Southridge High in Beaverton, Oregon. “I was surprised because I came to camps and coach told me early in the week that I was a recruit. It was always my dream place to play soccer. I’ll get nervous when the season gets closer, but it’ll be fun.” Jace has a brother and sister who attend BYU.

Coach Watkins says there will likely be two more recruits added to the final team list, which will be posted after the last session of tryouts this evening.
