The BYU men’s soccer team is making their presence known in their first season in the West Coast Division of the NIRSA Championship Series. After 15 years of competing in the Premier Development League (PDL), the Cougars transitioned into the new competition pool by facing Utah State on Sept. 22. BYU worked on keeping possession but were slow on capturing opportunities to score. They worked out their kinks by ending the game 1-1. BYU had their home opener against the University of Utah on Sept 27. They came together, capitalized on opportunities on goal, and beat the Utes 3-1.
This past weekend we suffered two tough losses, but this week the youth soccer summer camps started which has rejuvenated our morale and given us an added boost of energy. Along with the summer camps, on Monday June 3rd, Tanner Whitworth, Ace Phillips and I had the opportunity to go to Crescent Middle School in Draper, Utah and meet with a second grade class. The kids were able to ask us questions about the game of soccer and about our own soccer careers.
