The BYU men’s soccer team is making their presence known in their first season in the West Coast Division of the NIRSA Championship Series. After 15 years of competing in the Premier Development League (PDL), the Cougars transitioned into the new competition pool by facing Utah State on Sept. 22. BYU worked on keeping possession but were slow on capturing opportunities to score. They worked out their kinks by ending the game 1-1. BYU had their home opener against the University of Utah on Sept 27. They came together, capitalized on opportunities on goal, and beat the Utes 3-1. The Cougars headed up north on Sept. 29 to face BYU Idaho. The Cougars dominated the game and finished with a 10-3 win. This upcoming Wednesday, Sept. 4, BYU will face Utah Valley University at BYU South Field. The team is showing strong potential to be one of the top contenders in the league. Come out and support the BYU men’s soccer team as they make a name for themselves in the new division.
