BYU Makes it three seasons in a row without a single lose in Conference play. They finish the season 8-0-0 with a difficult game at Utah State in pooring rain to stay perfect.
Fresh off their road wins over Madison SC and Boise State, BYU is preparing for its return to South Field against Utah State on Friday, October 4.
The Cougars scored eight goals and conceded one during the team’s Idaho road trip. The game against Madison SC (affiliated with BYU—Idaho) was contested on a playing surface less suitable to the Cougars’ possession-heavy approach, while the Boise State game was a contentious affair that tested the Cougars’ grit and tempo.
BYU Men’s Soccer continued its winning start to the 2019 season by dismantling an overwhelmed Weber State side 4-0. Jake Ence netted the first and second goals, and Adam Canfield scored off a headed corner just before halftime before Ence rounded off his hat trick in the second half.
In last year’s reverse fixture, Weber State fell 4-0 to the Cougars without posing too many difficulties for BYU. The same result was repeated yet again this year at South Field, as BYU has now scored nine goals and conceded just one in its first two games.
BYU Men’s Soccer started their season with a 5-1 win over local rivals University of Utah on Saturday. Cougars’ Michael Anderson was named the man of the match for his role in both the first and third goals against Utah.

While BYU’s winning run against the Utes stretches back years, Brandon Gilliam is adamant that the teams “energy needs to be very high in this first game,” especially as the team “gets comfortable with organizational aspects.”
BYU men’s soccer fans got their first look at the 2019 Cougars in the annual preseason Blue vs. White game. Coach Brandon Gilliam described the fixture as anything but a preseason formality, as 36 players competed for 24 final roster spots ahead of the upcoming Fall 2019 season.
The coaching staff distributed returning and new players among the Blue and White teams and rotated players, formations and tactics in a match that ended 2-1 in favor of the Blue team.
